Galloway holiday cottage is open plan with a luxurious large and airy lounge that leads into fully fitted kitchen/dining area with patio doors onto the black limestone patio, also complete with its own garden furniture and barbeque.  On the ground floor there is also a lovely airy double bedroom with large adjacent bathroom with separate shower.  This bedroom has patio doors onto the patio. Directions

Getting Here by road – from the South

Follow the M6 onto the M74, leave the M74 at Gretna taking the signs for A75 Stranraer, at Newton Stewart turn left toward Wigtown and continue along the A714 for approx. 5 miles, Glenturk is situated on the right hand side of the road.

Getting Here by road – from the North

From Edinburgh take the M8 to Glasgow, then take the turn on the left to Carlisle on the M74 – leave the M74 at Moffat taking the signs to Dumfries, on the Dumfries bypass (A75) take the A75 to Stranraer, at Newton Stewart turn left toward Wigtown, and follow directions as above.

From Glasgow – you can take the direction above as from Edinburgh, or take the A77 to Girvan straight through Girvan to roundabout at end of town. Head straight across onto the A714 (Barhill/Newton Stewart) and continue straight through Newton Stewart. At roundabout continue straight across (Wigtown) and follow instructions above.

Things to See and Do

Wigtown

The small, bustling market town of Wigtown is known as the Scotland’s Booktown, located in the South West of Scotland it has a rich heritage and strong culture.

Dumfries and Galloway

All the beauties of the area, including the high granite mountains of the Galloway Hills, the Galloway Forest Park (which is the UK’s largest forest park), the Solway coast and the tranquil freshwater lochs are all easily accessible from the Barn at Glenturk

No queues in Galloway !

Dumfries and Galloway can be enjoyed either on foot, by bicycle or by car, and if you choose the easy option you will be surprised at the lack of queues and traffic jams!

Gardens

There are over 30 Gardens to visit including Logan Botanic Garden which is Scotland’s most exotic garden. Scotland’s school for gardeners showcase, Threave Gardens, Broughton House Garden and Glenwhan are just a few of the others.

Families will have fun

There are so many great things to do as a family, Cream’o’Galloway has a fantastic adventure trail, you can make your own pots and take them home from Dalton Potteries, horse trekking, 4×4 buggy rides, sea trips to see dolphins, and a selection of great beaches and rocky coves.

Walking in Wigtownshire

With the Galloway Forest Park virtually on our doorstep with it’s numerous sign posted walks, to scenic coastal walks along the many miles of accessible coastline. For something more adventurous there is, of course, the Galloway Hills, a fine collection of summits within a compact area. These are awesome hills, remote and elusive, rewarding determined walkers with breathtaking views.

We are open all year, so you can enjoy a holiday at Glenturk at anytime. Play golf on the numerous excellent local courses, visit Kirroughtree Forest Park with its excellent walking, cycling and, for the more adventurous, the 7Stanes mountain biking trails, all just seven miles away. Or for something completely different why not try Tank Driving!
